Virgil Brewer

Virgil L. Brewer, 91, of Cedar Hills, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Monday, March 12, 2007, at his residence.

Born Nov. 6, 1915, in Sulphur Rock, Ark., son of the late Jackson L. and Naomi Matthews Brewer, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, where he received the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and two Bronze Service Stars. He was a maintenance worker for the golf course and of the Protestant faith.

On Oct. 8, 1946, in Holdenville, Okla., he married Virginia Dale Whaley, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Judy Copeland and husband, Darrel; two sons, James Brewer and wife, Nancy and Dan Brewer and wife, Alice; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella, ruby and Rose and three brothers, Leo J.C. and James.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, March 16, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 17, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Stephen Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Qulin Cemetery at Qulin, Mo.
