Joe M. Hampton, 85, of Beaufort, Mo., died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Grandview Healthcare Center in Washington, Mo.
Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Steele, Mo., son of the late David and Mary Hamlett Hampton, he was a plumbing contractor.
He married Berniece Franks, who preceded him in death in 1954. On Nov. 16, 1957, in Hernando, Miss., he married Mae G. Barber, who preceded him in death on May 25, 1990., and he later married Margaret Jimmerson, who preceded him in death in 2001. He was also preceded in death by one son, Terry Hampton; one step-son, George Leon Emory; two step-daughters, Mary Esick and Pansy Barr and three brothers, Charles Hampton, Sr., Bob Hampton and Nub Hampton.
Survivors include one son, Bill Hampton, of Yucaipa, Calif.; three daughter, Pat Hoeft, of Beaufort, Wanda Leathers, of LaBelle, Fla., and Mary Foster, of Kennett; one step-daughter, Faye Hopper, of Nixa, Mo.; one brother, George Hampton, of Dexter, Mo.; four sisters, Helen Naile, of Farmington, Mo., Betty McCullough, of Sikeston, Mo., Pauline Lindsey, of Harrisburg, Ark., and Mildred Aaron, of Anderson, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Wednesday, March 14, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Ingle officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dudley Cemetery at Dudley, Mo.
