Albert Pendergrass, Jr.

Albert Pendergrass, Jr., 79, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Caruthersville Nursing Center.

Born May 29, 1927, in Tyler, Mo., son of the late Albert and Mae Little Pendergrass, he attended Cottonwood Point Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was employed by Taylor Brothers Ferry Operation and was of the Baptist faith.

On Feb. 12, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married Dalphine Williams, who survives.

Survivors also include three sons, Jerry A. Pendergrass, of Marston, Mo., and Danny D. and Floyd K. Pendergrass, both of Caruthersville; four daughters, Rhonda Graham, Cheryl Swindle, Melinda Morgan and Kim Pylate, all of Caruthersville; one sister, Mildred Blagburn, of Caruthersville; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Melvin Blurton; two grandchildren, Darinda and David Pendergrass and one great-grandchild, Stacey Pendergrass.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Adrian Knipper officiating.

Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were James Carl Baker, John Dixon, John Clyde Thompson, Gary Phillips, Danny Smith and Johnie Linsman.
