Robert Ransom

Robert P. "Buddie" Ransom, 88, of Caruthersille, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007.

Born Feb. 15, 1919, in South Carolina, son of the late Gray Portis "Doc" and Lenora Mallard Ransom, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII. He owned and operated his own business and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

In 1945, he married June Ellis, who preceded him in death in 1987. He married Flossie Merideth Lunceford in 1992, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Sarah J. "Sally" Smith and husband, Dan, of Richmond, Ky.; one son, Robert P. "Rob" Ransom II and wife, Jody, of McLean, Va.; eight grandchildren, Rob, Jonathan, Will, Karen and Lisa Khourie and Allison, Lauren and Michael Ransom and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Portis Gray and Gene Mallard and an infant daughter, Karen.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Rev. Dr. Kirwin Stewart officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
