Wilburn Stanford

William Houston Stanford, 81, of Wardell, Mo., died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.

Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Parkin, Ark., son of the late Raymond Wilson and Ethel Lee Stanford, he was a veteran.

On Sept. 5, 1942, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Martha Emma Johnson, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Connie Woodall and Patty Bullock, both of Wardell; one sister, Dorothy Means, of Batesville, Miss.; five grandchildren, Regena Leonard, of Portageville, Mo., Cindy Hampton and Michael Windham, both of Wardell, Billy Woodall, Jr., of Gideon, Mo., and Jim Bruner, of Olive Branch, Miss.; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one niece and five great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joy Anette Windham.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, at the Church of Christ in Wardell with Laddie Owens officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jim Bruna, Michael Windham, Billy Woodall, Jr., Chris Woodall, Jeff Starks and Charles Leonard.

Memorials may be made to North Pemiscot High School Scholarship Fund in memory of Wilburn Houston Stanford.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Wardell is in charge of arrangements.
