Ray Elder, 80, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Jan. 1, 1927, in Kennett, son of the late Fred Dudle and Mildred Mae Cumpton Elder, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict and a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam.

Survivors include two nieces, Chris Fink, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Tina Powell, of San Antonio, Texas; two great-nieces, Kristie Baugh, of Cookville, Tenn., and Cassie Williamson, of Knoxville and two great-nephews, William and Chad.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald David Elder and James Elder.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Friday, March 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers are Huel Jackson, Gary Maxwell, Dallas Allen, Frank Carter, Gary Moore and Odie Wake.
