Born July 6, 1927, in Senath, Mo., son of the late William V. and Martha Gertrude Palmer Lanier, he was a U.S. Navy and Air Force veteran and owner/operator of Lanier's Jewelry in Malden. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden, the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and the Chamber of Commerce in Malden.
On Feb. 15, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Evelyn Adell Garland, who preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1999. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Van and Joe Lanier and two great-grandchildren, Grace Adell and Conner Ross Culp.
Survivors include four daughters, Jane Culp and husband, Ron, of Gideon, Mo., Susan Hobbs and husband, Larry, of Wilmington, N.C., Mary Lanier, of Melbourne, Australia and Nancy Robertson and husband, Roy, of Midlothian, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Michael Hobbs, of Greenville, N.C., Sam and Ben Hobbs, of Charlotte, N.C., Karen Culp-New, of Springfield, Mo., Ronnie Culp, of Campbell, Mo., David Culp, of Gideon, Katie Bonenberger, of San Diego, Calif., Kyle Bonenberger, of Anaheim, Calif., Juliet Arnold, of New York, Emily Robertson and Roy Robertson, III, both of Midlothian and Brandi Robertson, of Sacramento, Calif., and four great-grandchildren, Sophie Evelyn Hobbs, Avery Culp and Christian and Hunter Robertson.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Garland officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
