Born Nov. 5, 1929, in Tremont, Miss., son of the late Lee and Deverlin Stidham Peters, he was a U.S. Army veteran in Korea and received the Korean Service w/2d2 Camp Star Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Service Bars Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of the Church of God and was employed by the Caruthersville Shipyard.
On May 13, 1953, in Piggott, Ark., he married Glenda Jarred, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, William Eugene Peters and wife, Dana, of Newbern, Tenn., Jeff Glenn Peters and wife, Pam, of Blytheville, Ark., and Greg Lynn Peters and wife, Cheryl, of Caruthersville; one sister, Smynthe Lee Hilderbrand, of Kennett; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Kim, Drew, Chisa, Amy, Thomas, Amber, Christina, Greg and Elizabeth and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 19, at he Church of God in Caruthersville with the Revs. Jason Anderson and John Haywood officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Buzz Mays, Dallas, Don and Gary Jarred, David Adams and Brian Abbott.
Honorary pallbearers were J.M. "Doc" Underwood, Roy Clark, Talbert Nichols and Gerald Teeter.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
