Violes McElvoy

Violes Muriel "Bugs" McElvoy, 97, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

Born Jan. 11, 1910, in Cherokee, Kan., son of the late George and Viola McCowin McElvoy, he was a member of the Landmark Pentecostal Church in Malden.

On Nov. 5, 1933, he married Ruby Clark, who preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 1983. He later married Vestia Estell Stratton Berry on July 16, 1983, who preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2005. He was also preceded in death by one son Kenneth McElvoy; two brothers, Norman and Hardy McElvoy; three sisters, Thyra Rackenbaugh, Irene Boone and Violet Baynes and two grandchildren, Larry and Kevin McElvoy.

Survivors include one daughter, Lucretia Stanley and husband, Tommy, of Sikeston, Mo.; three sons, Marvin McElvoy and wife, Letha, of Springfield, Mo., Jack McElvoy and wife, Nancy, of Corning, Ark., and Udell McElvoy, of Peculiar, Mo.; one step-daughter, Anna Lou Bienhoff, of Fairmont, Ill.; four step-sons, Dallas Berry, of Malden, James Berry, of Arnold, Mo., Sherman Berry, of Dexter and Thomas Berry, of O'Fallon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 12, at the Landmark Pentecostal Church in Malden with the Rev. Dale Hill officiating.

Burial was in the Gravel Hill Cemetery at St. Francis, Ark.
