Mary Todd

Mary "Mert" LaVerne Todd, 81, of Gibson, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at her residence.

Born Sept. 11, 1925, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of the late George and Florence Lomax Wakefield, she was a homemaker, a founding member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 109 and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

On Jan. 13, 1944, in Corning, Ark., she married James "J.A." Alexander Todd, Jr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Consolo and two brothers, George Bryon "Guy" and Milford Wakefield.

Survivors include six children, George Dean Todd and wife, Reva, of Gibson, Thomas A. Todd and wife, Pat, of Campbell, Mo., Dr. Mary Jane Todd and husband, Frank, of Jonesboro, Ark., Susan Todd Stubblefield and Brenda Martin and husband, Bobby, all of Bartlett, Tenn., and Michael Wakefield, of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Evelyn Ellington, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Deana Lucas, of Iberia, Mo., Allen Todd, of Washington, D.C., Jason and Jessica Bradley, both of Jonesboro, Gary Stubblefield, of Chicago, Ill, and Melasond Sandusky and Rachel Martin, both of Bartlett and three great-grandchildren, Keri Dawn and Christopher Lucas, both of Iberia and Shelby Sandusky, of Bartlett.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
