Mavis Elder

Mavis Lucille Elder, 89, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

Born Sept. 16, 1917, in Glennonville, Mo., daughter of the late Joe Joseph Katie Hampton Hicks, she was a bakery chef and a member of the Nazarene Church in Malden.

On Dec. 24, 1939, in Piggott, Ark., she married Tony Leo Elder, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Elder; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one son, Michael Elder, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Mildred Brown, of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Sherry Clinton, of DeSoto, Mo., Teresa Horn and Monica Carter, both of Bernie, Mo., Tina Warren, of Arnold, Mo., and Keith Elder, of the Ozarks and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Friday, Feb. 9, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Shelly officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
