Charles Edward Lester, 82, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born March 22, 1924, in Malden, son of the late Albert and Vera Tippit Lester, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, and a salesman at Malden Wholesale Food. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden and the Four Mile Masonic Lodge in Campbell, Mo.
On March 9, 1944, in Algona, Iowa, he married Maxine Vails, who preceded him in death on July 20, 1981. He later married Velma Ruth Allen Penny on Jan. 16, 1982, in Arnold, Mo., who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Charles "Butch" Lester, Jr., of Malden; two daughters, Linda Hawkins, of Arlington, Texas and Debra Bostwick, of Torrance, Calif.; one step-son, Dan Perry, of Arnold, Mo.; one step-daughter, Delores Gibson, of Jonesboro, Ark.; one sister, Adeane Demos, of Warren, Mich.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Allen Lester.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Friday, Feb. 9, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard Brooks officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
