Dr. Fred J. Teaster, 66, of Monroe, La., died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Minden, La.
Born April 5, 1940, in Hayti, Mo., son of the late Leonard and Georgia Teaster, he was an optometrist, a volunteer basketball coach and a member of the North Monroe Baptist Church.
He married Judy Glass, formerly of Kennett, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Shelia Ginn and husband, Keith of Monroe and Jansen Clary and husband, Greg, of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Dr. Len Teaster and wife, Martha, of Pocahontas, Ark.; five grandchildren, Tyler and Lance Ginn, Karlin and Blake Aloiso and McCrae Clary and a many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at the North Monroe Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Dye officiating.
Burial was in the Monroe Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the River Oaks Basketball and football teams.
Memorials may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church Stained Glass Fund in memory of Dr. Teaster.
Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe was in charge of arrangements.
