John Edward Howard, 65, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at St. Louis University Hospital at St. Louis, Mo.
Born April 23, 1942, at Hayti, Mo., the son of George Franklin and Elizabeth Hagaman Howard, he was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and Vietnam. He was also a refrigerator engineer in Sweden for 15 years and worked in Sikeston for three years, and a member of Rotary in Cape Girardeau. He was of Catholic faith.
On March 18, 1965, at Germantown, Tenn., he married Barbara Derrington Howard who survives the home.
Other survivors include one son, Paul T. Howard and wife, Ramona, of O Fallon, Mo.; one daughter, Susan K. Hall, and husband Jamey of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Katelyn Hall of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, David Howard and wife, Louise, of Ballwin, Mo., and Robert Howard of Cochise, Ariz.; four sisters Theresa Steinacker of Rolla, Mo., Annette Kraus and husband Dennis, of Rolla, Rita Barnes and husband, Roger, of Van Buren, Mo., and Dorothy Perkins of Van Buren; a sister-in-law, Wanda Bowen of Jefferson City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Joseph, and James Howard; and one sister, Anella Herrington.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 3, with Rev. David Hulshof officiating.
Interment will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo. at a later date.
