J.B. James, 83, of Piedmont, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born April 5, 1923, in Brosley, Mo., son of the late Ambrose Jefferson and Cora Agnes Golden James, he was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Piedmont.

On Dec. 19, 1959, in Gideon, he married Lucille Hillman, who preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 2002. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Melvin James and an infant sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Jordan and husband, Bryan, of Clarkton, Mo.; one son, Jay Anthony James, of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Curt James, of Brookfield, Ill., and Jerry James, of Sandwich, Ill.; three sisters, Vella Kennedy, of Piedmont, Helen Kennedy, of Fredericktown, Mo., and Betty Crider, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, with the Rev. Mark Powell officiating.

Burial was in the Rosewood Cemetery at Malden.
