William Brice Carnell, 71, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Aug. 15, 1935, in Henderson, Tenn., son of the late Albert and Lelar Cupples Carnell, he owned and operated Carnel's Body Shop and was a member of the Jesus Name Tabernacle in Caruthersville, Mo.
On Sept. 20, 1955, in Portageville, Mo., he married Alice Atterberry, who survives.
Survivors also include three children, Steve Carnell and wife, Teri and Kathy Fowler and husband, Cary, all of Hayti and Debra Cook and husband, Terry, of Portageville, Mo.; two brothers, Clarence Carnell and wife, Evelyn, of Dutchtown, Mo., and D.C. Carnell and wife, Virgie, of Portageville and five grandchildren, Sonya Carnell Sledge, of Kennett, Skyler Carnell and Eric Fowler, both of Hayti and Marcus and Dustin Cook, both of Portageville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and James Carnell; two half-brothers, Otis and Dewitt Carnell and one sister, Bertha Stewart.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Thursday, Jan. 11, in the fellowship hall of the Jesus Name Tabernacle in Caruthersville with Bros. Anthony and John Stepp officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Gary and Skyler Carnell, Dustin and Marcus Cook, Eric Fowler and Chris Sledge.
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Crawford, Tommy McDonald, Danny Robertson, Joe Tate and John A. and Larry Joe Thompson.
