Willard Rogers

Willard B. Rogers, 87, of Madison, Ala., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Madison.

Born June 14, 1919, in Ravenden Springs, Ark., son of the late Tib and Nannie Layle Rogers, he was a U.S. Army/Air Force Veteran, having served in WWII. He was a teacher, he served on the Malden Fire Department and was Malden Fire Chief. He was a former member of the First Southern Baptist Church.

On Dec. 24, 1938, in Malden, he married Jessie Lee Rogers, who preceded him in death on June 20, 1996.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet Valentine and husband, Ed, of Madison; four grandchildren, Diane Helser and Rick Valentine, both of Huntsville, Ala., Annette Sinyard, of Dallas, Texas and Tom Valentine, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and seven great-grandchildren, Nick Helser, Taylor and Brooke Sinyard, and Katie, Emily, Sydney and Dalton Valentine.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
