Billie Sue Butler Swell, 67, of Holland, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at her residence.

Born July 22, 1939, in Holland, she was the daughter of the late Huron and Ada Pritchett Bray.

In 1953, she married Belvie W. Butler, who preceded her in death in 1971. In April, 1977, she married Elder Sewell.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Butler, of Vinton, Iowa and Steve Butler, of Steele, Mo.; four daughters, Teresa Burgess, of Swisher, Iowa, Diane Thacker and Marilyn Powell and husband, Mike, all of Steele and Melissa Beck and husband, Kenny, of Caruthersville, Mo.; three brothers, Lexton Bray and wife, Janice, of Vinton, Joe Bray and wife, Linda, of South Carolina and Danny Bray and wife, Denise, of Rives, Mo.; four sisters, Helen Dixon and husband, Richard, of Belle Plains, Iowa, Juanita McMullin, of Steele and Carolyn Hanna and Sharon Neighbors, both of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Robert Carpenter, Jason Johnson, Jeffrey, Caleb, Candi, Racheal and Jessica Butler and Hope, Dawn, Jodie and Hali Leathers and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex and Carl Bray; two sisters, Glodene Bray and Nina McMinn; two grandchildren, Denny and David Butler and one great-grandchild, Hallie Carpenter.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 7, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with the Rev. Gaylen Williams officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.

Pallbearers were Glen and Keith Pritchett, Ronald Grice, Tim Bratton, Jim Atchison, Joe Kinnson, Ronnie Bray and Mike Morris.
