Emily M. Kerr

Emily M. Wells Kerr, a registered nurse, who for a number of years served Kennett's children in the public school system, passed away December 26, 2006; beloved wife of the late Joseph S. Kerr, dearest mother of Melissa Marus of Memphis, Dr. David Kerr and wife Marsha, of St. Louis, and Rev. John Kerr and wife, Pat of Jefferson City, and eight grandchildren, Martha, Kady, Brian, Rachel, Audry, John David, Rebecca and Matthew, and five great-grandchildren.

Emily was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church. Two of her sons entered the United Methodist Ministry while Melissa served in a career of banking with Union Planters. Mrs. Kerr was a past president of the Kennett Garden Club. She and her late husband, Joe, enjoyed traveling throughout the country and loved the land and the people of America. Two of her grandchildren have served in the U.S. Army in the Iraq Theater and John's daughter, Kady, continues a second tour of duty.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Kennett at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 29. The family will receive friends during a one-hour visitation from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials go to Operation Outreach, Missouri Veterans Committee (Attn: Pat Kerr) PO Drawer 147, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0147.
