The City of Kennett lost a good man and faithful citizen with the passing of Dr. Milton Tate. Since he first arrived in this community over 60 years ago, Dr. Tate has been devoted to the betterment of our community. He served on our City Council and was a long-time member and later chairman of our Board of Public Works. In these positions, he served the people for almost two decades.

Not many individuals possess the ability to pass through life without incurring the wrath of some or the enmity of others. Milton was that rare individual loved by all, whose friends are in the hundreds.

He always maintained his good nature and his sense of humor and these were the very traits that endeared him to others. I can not recall ever seeing him mad, despondent or angry. He was so proud of his fine family and loved to tell the stories of their various successes in their lives.

He took such good care of the beloved pets of people of our area and was proud to gain their owners' love and affection in return. On a personal note, he was the "Godfather" of three of my feline friends and was happy to see the love and joy they gave me.

He will be sorely missed by our community and those to whom he gave so much joy.
