Born June 30, 1926, in Blytheville, Ark., son of the late Fred and Carrie Painter Jackson, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII and was in the farming and ginning business. He was president of Pemiscot No. 1 Consolidated Public Water District, board member of the Elk Chute Drainage District, Pemiscot Progressive Industries and Delta C-7 School District, served on the Pemiscot and State Agriculture Committee and a member of the Ruritan Club, Masonic Lodge and the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
On Nov. 23, 1950, in Blytheville, Ark., he married Betty Boone, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Cindy Jackson Price and husband, Dr. Herbert Price, III , of Jonesboro, Ark.; and two grandsons, Ronald Allen Young, II, and Jonathan Jackson Young, both of Jonesboro.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, Mo., with the Rev. Jonathan Parker officiating.
Burial was Sunday, Dec. 3, in the Berry Cemetery at Berry, Ala.
Honorary pallbearers were Dwight Blankenship, Mike Tidwell, Coy Owens, Jackie Callis and James Cook.
