Dr. Warren R. McCoy, 83, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Aug. 29, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., son of the late Norman Edward and Pearl Bertorelli McCoy, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in WWII, a graduate of Central High School in Memphis, Tenn., Southwestern University and University of Tennessee medical School. He was a physician in Caruthersville and a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville.

On March 9, 1951, in Memphis, Tenn., he married Betty Andrews, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Caroline Griffith and husband, Jeff, of Olive Branch, Miss.; one son, Warren Richard McCoy, Jr., and wife, Nancy, of Dyersburg, Mo., and three grandchildren, Warren Richard III, Rachel and Melissa McCoy, all of Dyersburg.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Russell Harbaugh officiating.

Burial with full military rites was held in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Dr. Somporn Puangsuvan, Dan Wright, Dan Wright, Jr., Glenn D. Haynes, Henry Hayden and Dr. Terry Swinger.

Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Woods, Sidney Chaffin and Frank Slentz.
