Born in Monette, Ark., son of the late Thomas J. and Hattie Byrns Stephens, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII, a retired service engineer, a member of Delhi Baptist Church and a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gist Stephens, of Cuba; two sons, Thomas J. and Douglas Stephens, both of Cuba; three daughters, Cheryl Broderick, of DeSoto, Mo., Karen Boudouris, of Greenville, Ill., and Cathy Borovac, of Weeping Water, Neb.; four sisters, Pearl Howell and Billie Shook, both of Paragould, Ark., Maxine Hinson, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Joan Roush, of Columbia, Ill.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Friday, Nov. 24, at the Howard Funeral Home in Leachville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Royce Boling officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cardwell Cemetery at Cardwell, Mo.
