A.J. Silman

A.J. Silman, 91, of Portageville, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at his residence.

Born Jan. 5, 1915, in Farmfelt, Mo., he was the son of the late Arthur and Bethany Ketchum Silman.

On Oct. 8, 1943, in New Madrid, Mo., he married Margie Maxine Gray, who survives.

Survivors also include six sons, Delbert, Meril and Danny Silman, all of Portageville, Robert Silman, of Marston, Mo., Jerry Silman, of Hitchcock, Texas and Phillip Silman, of Lilbourn, Mo.; four daughters, Jo Ann Vaughn, of LaMirada, Calif., Nancy Edgar, of Portageville, Barbara Dabney, of Columbus, Mo., and Terri Joiner, of Malden, Mo.; three brothers, Ben Silman, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., James Silman, of Richland, Mich., and Loren Ray Silman, of White Cloud, Mich., and three sisters, Alma Ruth Gurley, of Wilcox, Ariz., Eunice Estes, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Betty Krimble, of Vicksburg, Mich.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Carol and Brenda Lee; two sisters, Lillian Strickland and Aretha Davidson; one brother, Ben Silman and four grandchildren, Jerry, DeWayne, Lance and Michael Allen.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Delisle Funeral Home in Portageville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the Delisle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Pallbearers are Mark, Robbie, Chris and Garion Silman, Dusty Edgar and Jody Joiner.
