Safe passage

Sunday, October 29, 2006
No wonder this camper decided to sue the government after he fell off a cliff, if he knew of the person who sued McDonalds because she spilled hot coffee on herself and won.

This 23-year-old, Jerry Mersereau, expects the government to pay for his injuries and "mental anguish" after he fell almost 30 feet from a cliff to a creek bed below.

Turns out the greedy camper had to relieve himself during the night and headed into the woods. He walked right off a cliff, which was unguarded and unprotected. I wonder if this guy has ever heard of a flashlight?

Do you know what will happen next? I can see it now -- an illegal immigrant entering the United States from Mexico will get bitten by a snake and he will sue the government. Or, one will trip over a rock and sue the government. After all, the government should post signs warning of snakes and dangerous rocks.

But wait! Must the sign be posted in English, or in Spanish, or in both? Perhaps there will have to be both languages and artwork?

I can see the outcome of such a lawsuit now. Some judge will rule that the government must provide the opportunity for safe passage of all illegal immigrants. Of course, by safe passage the judge will mean smooth, paved sidewalks with the proper lighting.

Do not laugh! It will happen.
