Josephine Williams

Josephine Williams, 61, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Kennett.

Born April 17, 1945, in Hayti, daughter of the late Julius and Mattie Yancy, she attended Central High School in Hayti and was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hayti Heights, Mo.

In 1968, she married Robert C. Williams, who survives.

Survivors also include five daughters, Mariland L. Johnson, of Los Angeles, Calif., Iris L. Yancey, Pearless D. Stuart and Lakisha S. Smith, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Chevell Yancey, of Grandview, Mo.; three sons, Lennis D. Williams and Timothy R. and Calvin T. Yancey, all of Olatha, Kan.; three sisters, Irene Vinson, of Los Angeles, Elizabeth Brown, of Kansas City and Lois Butler, of Hayti; four brothers, John and Julius Yancy, both of Cleveland, Ohio, James Yancey, of Kansas City and Donald R. Yancey, of California; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Monday, Oct. 23, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with the Rev. James Yancey officiating.
