Born April 28, 1943, in Orongo, Mo., son of Pansy Shoup and the late Clarence Shoup, he graduated from Mid-West Bible Institute and was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He pastored at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden and also pastored churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri and was currently pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Carl Junction.
On June 12, 1964, in Bentonville, Ark., he married Barbara Wilkerson, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Kevin Shoup and wife, Sharon, of Bloomfield, Mo., and Jason Shoup and wife, Tracy, of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Kristin Turner and husband, Clyde, of Carl Junction; his mother, Pansy Shoup Wardlow, of Carl Junction; two brothers, Donald Shoup and wife, Dixie, of Carl Junction and Gerald Shoup and wife, Sharon, of Rawlins, Wyo.; five step-brothers, Mel Wardlow, of Denver, Colo., Larry, Mike and Steve Wardlow, all of Leavenworth, Kan., and Jim Wardlow, of Washington; one step-sister, Laura Wardlow, of Leavenworth and two granddaughters, Sarah and Bailey Turner, both of Carl Junction.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel in Joplin, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, at the Frisco Church in Webb City, Mo., with the Rev. Clyde Turner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
