Charles Meese

Charles Frederick "Bob" Meese, 84, of Clarkton, Mo., formerly of Tallapoosa and Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Houston, Ark., son of the late J.H. and Nancy Jane Lee Meese, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII., and a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tallapoosa and a New Madrid County 4H leader.

On July 3, 1941, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Lucille Marlow, who preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1985. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Verlon Hogan, Corinne Adkins and Violet Meese and four brothers, Nen, Jack, Carl and Clyde Meese.

Survivors include one sister, Gladys Hartsfield and husband, Al, of Malden, Mo.; two brothers, James Meese and wife, Jessie, of Burton, Mich., and John Meese, of Clarkton and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Jim Cornman officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
