Born Nov. 10, 1926, in Senath, Mo., he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII. He was an evangelist, a barber, worked at Folsom Prison as a minister and was a member and minister at Melrose Church of Christ in Vista, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Janice "Jan" Hayden; two daughters, Susan Graham and husband, Dennis, of Ashland, Ore., and Janet Hayden, of Davis, Calif.; one step-daughter, Kathy Newswanger and husband, Barry, of New Holland, Pa.; two step-sons, Tim Fifer and wife, Annette, of Eldorado Hills and Mark Fifer and wife, Linda, of Rio Linda; three sisters, Deronda Tucker and Candy Martin, both of Arkansas and Lorette Hayden, of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, at Melrose Church of Christ in Melrose, Calif.
Burial was held in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at San Diego, Calif.
