Garfield Young, 74, of Fairdealing, Mo., formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Fairdealing.

Born Dec. 16, 1931, in Leachville, Ark., son of the late Walter and Dicie Shipp Young, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War and a cattle farmer.

On Aug. 15, 1958, in Holcomb, he married Shirley Dean Hamlett, who survives.

Survivors also include one son, Michael Garfield Young, of Fairdealing; a daughter-in-law, Ronda Young, of Doniphan; two grandchildren, Kayla Marie and Brian Cody Young, both of Doniphan.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Dean Young; six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers are Kenny Shipman, Don Carson, Brian Arnold, David Mashburn, Marc Schlief and Wayne Crouch.
