Dorothy Shelby

Dorothy Eleanor Shelby, 86, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.

Born Aug. 18, 1920, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late W.A. and Josephine Dabbs Pullam, she was a 1938 graduate of Portageville School and was employed by Brown Shoe Company and Hayden's Pharmacy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville.

On Feb. 8, 1941, in Blytheville, Ark., she married J.D. Shelby, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Larry E. Shelby, of Caruthersville; one brother, Orville Pullam and wife, Roxy, of Sacramento, Calif.; two nieces and numerous cousins.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., today, Friday, Sept. 1, in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
