Born April 6, 1917, in San Antonio, Texas, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in WWII. He was an insurance agent, and building inspector and civil defense director for the city of Kennett.
On Nov. 25, 1937, in San Antonio, he married Dorothy Virginia Wright, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Ron Merguie and wife, Billee, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Sandra Thorn, of Mountain Home, Ark.; three grandchildren, John David Merguie, of Conway, Ark., Scott David Thorn, of Ann Harbor, Mich., and Dana Aulgur, of Russellville, Ark., and four great-grandchildren, Alex and Julianne Merguie, both of Conway and Sloan and Erin Aulgur, both of Russellville.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., today, Thursday, Aug. 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Ed Jansson and Scott Andrews officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Mark Goddard, Scott Tutor, John David Merguie, Jeff Aulgur, Roger Montgomery and Jim Byrd.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Wagster and Glen Parker.
