Katie Lee Tuggles Prather McEwen, 93, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Nov. 25, 1913, in Tarro, Miss., daughter of the late Henry and Rosie Lee Fance Tuggles, she was founder of the Pentecostal Power Church of Caruthersville, Mo., and a missionary.
In 1940, in Osceola, Ark., she married Robert Prather, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 26, 1955, she married Acie McEwen, Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1992.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Annie Prather, of Caruthersville and Mae Ella McEwen, of Chicago Heights, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Prather, of East St. Louis, Illl., and Mary Haralson, of Hopkins, S.C.; 20 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Pentecostal Power New Life Deliverance Temple in Caruthersville with Bishop James L. Lane officiating.
Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery at Caruthesville.
Pallbearers were Walter H. Bell, Ronald M., Michael R., Willie R., Alphonso J., and John D. Prather, Charles Jones, Lemont Bell, Stephen Graves and James "Dinky" Lane.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthesville was in charge of arrangements.
