Velma Long Adkerson Haddock, 89, of Kennett, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Born Oct. 9, 1916, in Rector, Ark., daughter of the late William and Ann Long, she was a cafeteria worker for Arbyrd and Cardwell Schools. She was a member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.
She married Edwin Adkerson, who preceded her in death, and later married Fort Haddock, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Adkerson, of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Jim Adkerson of Kennett; one brother, J.W. Long, of Paragould, Ark.; three grandchildren, Teresa Dick, of Flippin, Ark., Donya Adkerson, of Edwardsville, Ill., and Jama Adkerson, of Kennett; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Larry McFadden officiating.
Burial will follow in the Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
