Sadie Ora McElhaney, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at her residence.
Born May 23, 1927, in Cardwell, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Plummer Meredith and Emmaline Adiline Edwards.
On Oct. 21, 1944, in Evening Shade, Ark., she married Jesse Carl McElhaney, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy McElhaney; two sisters, Maudie Stevans and Carolyn McKillips; one brother, James Willie Meredith; five grandchildren, John McElhaney, Jr., Paul and Serenity Toombs, Joe Harner and Lacy Friedline and one great-grandchild, Harold Wagner.
Survivors include 13 children, Jesse McElhaney and wife, Tina, Peggy Green and husband, Charlie, Mack McElhaney, John McElhaney and wife, Jackie, Dennis McElhaney, and Roger McElhaney and wife, Cindy, all of Poplar Bluff, Gene McElhaney and wife, Peggy, of Neelyville, Mo., Paul McElhaney and wife, Ann, of Palestine, Texas, Charles McElhaney and wife, Beth, and Robby McElhaney and wife, Sue, all of East Prairie, Mo., J.P. McElhaney and wife, Sharron, of Harviell, Mo., Joe McElhaney and wife, Shirley, of Kennett, and Alice McClain, of Hornersville, Mo.; one brother, Plummer Tom Meredith and wife, Faye, of Delaplaine, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Gracie Meredith, of Kennett; 48 grandchildren; 107 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., today, Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating.
Burial was in the Jones Ridge Cemetery at Delaplaine.
