Born in Ripley, Miss., son of the late Faril Gattis, Sr., and Lola Gattis, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was employed at American Moving and Storage and was a member of the Retired American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Gattis, of Leesville; three sons, Roosevelt "Bo" Gattis, Jr, of Marietta, S.C., and Jefferson Lyle and Colin "Rocky" Gattis, both of Leesville; five brothers, Winfred Gattis, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cleveland Gattis, of West Monroe, Ark., Faril Gattis, Jr., of Hornersville, Mo., Lonnie Gattis, of Mountain View, Ark., and Carlton Gattis, of Senath, Mo.; two sisters, Imogene Vanhooser, of Wenatchee, Wash., and Virginia "Jeanie" Millington, of Memphis, Tenn., and five grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 31, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville.
