Hallet Elmer Hughes, Sr., 82, of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Dec. 18, 1923, in Malden, Mo., he was the son of the late Shirley Lee and Bessie Lee Hanks Hughes.
In 1951, in Piggott, Ark., he married Idella White, who preceded him in death in 1975. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Paul and Randy Hughes and one brother, Georgie Hughes.
Survivors include three sons, Hallet Hughes, Jr., of Campbell, Orville Hughes, of Dittmer, Mo., and Harvey Hughes, of West Plains, Mo.; three brothers, Johnny Hughes, of Malden, Richard Hughes, of Granite City, Ill., and Bobby Hughes, of Fordland, Mo.; three sisters, Helen Batson, of Highland, Ind., Ruby Yount, of Marble Hill, Mo., and Marilyn Gurlen, of Granite City; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Otis Bunn officiating.
Burial was in the Park Cemetery at Malden.
