Almeta Joyce Russom, 71, of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the hospital in Hayti, Mo.
Born on May 17, 1935, at Swift, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Jodie and Agnes Cleo Hounihan Watkins.
On December 5, 1953, at Hernando, Miss., she married J.W. Russom, who survives. Her religious belief was Pentecostal.
Other survivors include three children, James Wendell Russom and his wife, Nancy, of St. Peters, Mo., Kevin Wayne Russom of Hayti, and Lateshia Ann Russom and Terry Walker of Hayti; eight grandchildren, James Nicholas Russom and Nicole Christine Russom, both of St. Louis, Mo., Amanda Michele Murray of Joplin, Mo., Pamela Renee Murray of Goodman, Mo., Kimberley Ann Russom of Portageville, Mo., Tara LaDawn Chidester of Hayti, Mo., Christopher Dewayne Russom of Hayti, Mo., and April Leann Walker of Hayti, Mo; four great-grandchildren, Sydney and Addison Chidester of Hayti, Mo., Baby Bonee, and Baby Ferrell.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lawanda Joyce Stillions; one grandchild, Norman Leonard Livingood III; three brothers, Douglas Dewayne Watkins, Junior Watkins, and Eugene Watkins; and one sister, Corina Watkins.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel at Hayti with Sister Florence Staggs officiating.
Burial was at Dry Bayou Cemetery north of Hayti, Mo.
Pallbearers included Robert Pearson Jr., Donny Ferrell, Jim Russom, Matt Rudd, Dennis Rudd, and Josh Bonee. Honorary pallbearers included Shannon Chidester and Troy Meals.
