Fairretta "Rosie" Donald

Fairretta "Rosie" Donald, 102, died Friday, July 7, 2006 at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems at Hayti, Mo.

Born March 8, 1904 in Panther Burn, Mississippi, daughter of Eliza Mitchell and C. Simms, she attended schools in Louisiana and San Pedro, Calif. and attended the Church of God in Christ for many years where she was a missionary.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosie Bess of St. Charles, Mo.; a son, Johnnie Honeycutt of Caruthersville, Mo.; grandchildren, Robert Chatman, Andrew Chatman, James A. Woods, Charles L. Bess, Lee Arthur Wilbourn, Johnny Len Honeycutt, Sean Honeycutt, Sherry Gassoway, Jacqueline Woods, Rhonda Woods, Althea Bess Jeter, Donna M. Bess, Jewell Bess Rogers, Kelly Brimley, Janet Anderson and Fairretta Honeycutt; 45 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters; two brothers; two grandsons, Kenneth D. Bess and Glenn A. Flagg; two daughters, Doretha Flagg and Bernice Woods; two husbands, Arthur Honeycutt and William Donald.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 17 at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Caruthersville, Mo., with Rev. J. T. Spicer officiating.

Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Anthony Bowens, Johnny Ray Bowens, Bryant Lyed, Calvin Hunter, Lee Arthur Wilburn, Johnny Len Honeycutt and Raymond Jeter.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of the services.
