Arthur Elkins, 80, of Cooter, Mo., died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, Ark.

Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Omar W. Va., son of the late Millard and Grace Jones Steele Elkins, he was a truck driver.

He was married on Sept. 27, 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva; three sons, Bobby Elkins and wife, Sherrill, of Athens, Ga., Bryan Elkins and wife, Sheila, of Beebe, Ark., and Jeffrey Snow, of Charleston, S.C.; five daughters, Sandra Handley, of Norristown, Pa., Regina Westmoreland and husband, Mark, of Virginia Beach, Va., Diane Holbert and husband, Ronnie, of Raceland, La., Pamela Jestus, of Kennett and Melinda Miller, of Beebe; one brother, Paul Elkins and wife, Evelyn, of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Florence Mcalister and husband, Melvin, of Anderson, S.C.; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Thompson; two brothers, Lonnie and Texsel Steele and one sister, Winnie Hicks.

Funeral services were held at noon, Tuesday, July 11, at the Powell Funeral Home in Steele, Mo. with the Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating.

Burial was in the Number Eight Cemetery at Cooter, Mo.

Pallbearers were Joshua Poe, Jeremy Bibbs, Bryan Elkins, Jr., Corey Miller, Rick Myers, Jr., and Christopher Handley.

Honorary pallbearers were Tim and Jason Alexander.
