Joe Prance, 74, of Kennett, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born July 10, 1931, in Holcomb, Mo., son of the late Joseph Robert and Minnie C. Hahn Prance, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Kennett, past president of the Kennett Horse Show Association, past president of the Lions Club, past president of Southeast Missouri Oil Jobbers and past board member of Southern Missouri Bank.

On July 7, 1950, he married Lawanda Orr, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Carol Ann Pelts and husband, Mark and one sister, Ann Knotts, of Ozawkie, Kan.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Merlin, Jack, John and Maurice Prance.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Pallbearers were Gerald Granger, Jerry Clark, David Lagore, Don Wall, Charles Hyde and John A. Prance.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
