William Smith

William T. Smith, 76, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 4, 1929, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., son of the late Lee and Nettie Martin Smith, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a meat cutter and a member of the Hayti Church of Christ.

He married LaDonna Durham of Dallas, Texas, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Donna Hutchcraft and husband, Mark, of Sedgewickville, Mo.; one brother, Carl Smith and wife, Norma, of Columbia, Ill.; two sisters, Edith Ebehard, of Des Peres, Mo., and Marie Masters, of Lexington, Ky., and three grandchildren, Kassandra Bellew and James Robert and Cody Hutchcraft.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Hudson Smith.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 6, in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett with Spencer Furby officiating.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
