Violet Jones Grogan, 95, of Jacksonville, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Jacksonville.

Born July 11, 1910, in Slate Springs, Miss., she was the daughter of the late L.A. and Joe Emma Skelton Vance.

She married James W. Jones, who preceded her in death. She later married Opal Lawrence Grogan, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Shaw Vance, Jr., and James B. Vance and one sister, Earlene Evans.

Survivors include one son, Jim Jones and wife, Deany, of Jacksonville, Ark.; one daughter, Nell Rice, of Bragg City, Mo.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 7, in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.

McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
