James Willis Wright, Sr., 83, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Desloge, Mo., son of the late Rev. William Mitchell and Alpha Retta Hickerson Wright, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, a elementary school principal and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden.

On May 22, 1949, in Malden, he married Alta Jeanette Hester, who survives.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Elizabeth Snider, of Malden; two sons, James Willis Wright, of Malden and Joseph Warren Wright, of Eureka, Mo., and two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Miriam Allison Snider, both of Malden.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jacob Paul Snider.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 1, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 1, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.

Memorials may be made to the Malden Elementary School Library.
