Effie Mae Hampton, 100, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., and Risco, Mo., died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Mark Twain Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born May 20, 1906, in New Madrid County, Mo., daughter of the late William G. and Myrtle Maud Lane Patterson, she was a homemaker and a member of the General Baptist Church in Campbell.
On Aug. 14, 1925, in New Madrid, she married John Jackson Hampton, who preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1979. She was also preceded in death by one son, Johnnie Hampton; two brothers, Roy and Charles Patterson and three sisters, Emma Barrett, Ruby Patterson and Dolly DeProw.
Survivors include one daughter, Francetta Hamlett, of Poplar Bluff; two sons, Kenneth Hampton and wife, Bettie, of Decatur, Ill., and Jack Hampton and wife, Merle, of Campbell; one brother, William Patterson, of Humble, Texas; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today, Tuesday, June 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Rev. Earl Dell officiating.
Burial was in the Park Cemetery at Malden.
