Born Nov. 6, 1926, in Gideon, Mo., son of the late Artie B. and Willie Ann LaFonte Smart, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII and a member of the Stanfield Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkton.
On Sept. 2, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., he married Louise Smedley, who survives.
Survivors also include four sons, Everett Smart, Jr., and James Smart and wife, Wanda, all of Clarkton, Virgil Smart, of Gideon and Kevin Smart, of New Iberia, La.; two daughters, Beverly Kaye Reeves and husband, Rockie, of Clarkton and Linda Collis and husband, Kenny, of Gideon; one brother, Virgil Lee Smart, of Clarkton; one sister, Pearl Loughary, of Gideon; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, June 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Revs. Jack Allen and Denver Hansell officiating.
Burial with military honors was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton.
