Q: Who is Barbara Webb?

A: She is a lady involved in a work that should be of interest to all Kennett High School graduates.

Kennett High School has a lot of loyal fans.

In this case we're not talking about sports fans, but those KHS graduates still very much interested in their old school, and their classmates from years gone by.

KHS has a number of high school reunions, and they are normally well attended. Just recently at an all-classes reunion there were nearly 200 graduates on hand.

For years a dedicated couple here in Kennett published a newspaper called "Sentimental Journey." This publication was entirely devoted to high school reminiscence: Pictures, letters from old classmates, anything to keep alive the memories of school days.

There is now a group of KHS graduates who live out of town, but regularly publish a newspaper named "Reflections." This is again dedicated to memories from high school -- the town -- the people they don't want to forget.

Barbara Webb has taken her KHS loyalty another step further.

Barbara is now engaged in putting together the KHS yearbooks from 1886 until now. This she is putting in binder form that will include pictures, names, weddings & obituaries. She welcomes any material information from graduates that will assist her in offering an interesting presentation.

The work that Barbara Webb is doing is no small task. Not only is she doing this at her own expense, but the time involved for this effort has been substantial. Since January of this year Barbara has been at the Kennett library on a daily basis for about two hours of work. Just a ballpark estimated of her effort would be in excess of 240 hours.

Barbara Webb is donating her work to the Kennett Library Genealogical Department. It will be available for perusal by KHS students, graduates, and the general public. She eventually plans, however, to put together some binders listing all Kennett High School graduates. These will be up for sale to help her in a reimbursement for her expenses.

Barbara Webb is a Kennett High School graduate who has lived here all her life. She is a pleasant lady apparently involved in a labor of love. How many towns have a lady like Barbara Webb?

Q: Wouldn't it be exciting to see a UFO?

A: Plenty. But the aliens themselves are pretty dull.

A spontaneous discussion arose the other day at a Kennett establishment about the possibility of UFO's.

There are a great number of creditable people who claim to have made sightings.

Not to dispute any of these people, it's the aliens from outer space that are difficult to understand. These people (or whatever you want to call them,) seem to have an unlimited capacity for the droll and mundane.

Why, for instance, would they want to settle down over some remote swamp in Louisiana, rather that visit -- say -- the Super Bowl?

Wouldn't it be more exciting to see a Sheryl Crow concert than to hover over some sleepy village in Appalachia?

Why is it that the people they supposedly abduct for examination are so woefully non-descript? Wouldn't it be more fun to pick up Ted Kennedy and Ann Coulter, and watch them try to tear each other's throats out?

Here's the big one: Why don't they attend one of our political conventions?

Now here is a 3-ring circus, complete with elephants, donkeys, balloons, and clowns.

Outer space must be a pretty dull place.
