Charles Everett Owens, 81, of Gideon, Mo., died Monday, June 12, 2006, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born April 10, 1925, in Guion, Ark., he was the son of Claude Everett and Eva Catherine Green Owens.
Everett enjoyed life most while hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He spent many an afternoon sitting on the porch and whittling.
On Oct. 27, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married Effie Ethel Edwards, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, Clyde Owens and wife, Angela, and Coy Owens and wife, Connie, all of Kennett, and Claude Owens and wife, Redgie, of Gideon; five daughters, Darlene, Marlene and Glenda Owens, all of Gideon, Pearlene Joiner and husband, Tommy, of Sonora, Calif., and Charlene Beckner and husband, Jody, of Damascus, Ark.; two brothers, Sam Owens and wife, Hazel, of Cave City, Ark., and Willie Owens and wife, Janice, of Cave City, Ark.; two sisters, Rosa Bone, of Sidney, Ark., and Paulene Edwards, of Clewiston, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James Everett and Roger Dale Owens.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, Wednesday, June 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven Bricker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
Pallbearers are Billy Owens, Daniel Owens, Matthew Owens, Christopher Owens, Lance Sutton and Sparky Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers are Misty Sutton, Stephanie Owens, Vicki Berry, Regina McClendon, Nicole Van Dyke and Priscilla Young.
