Agnes Mary Fortman, 94, of Glennonville, Mo., died Monday, June 5, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Aug. 13, 1911, in Leonore, Ill., daughter of the late Henry and Mary Fluech Gass, Sr., she was a homemaker, a member of the St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Glennonville and a member of the St. Ann's Altar Society.
On Feb. 3, 1932, in Glennonville, she married Frederick Henry Fortman, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1984. She was also preceded in death by an infant son; one sister, Anna Gass and five brothers, Joseph, William, Charles, Norbert and Henry Gass.
Survivors include seven sons, Leo Fortman and wife, Judy, of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul Fortman and wife, Joann, of Farmington, Mo., Fred Fortman, Jr., of Wappapello, Mo., Bernard Fortman and wife, Donna, of Troy, Mo., Willie Fortman and wife, Karen, of Dexter, Mo., Richard Fortman and wife, Glenda, of Campbell, Mo. and Jim Fortman and wife, Judy, of Chester, Ill.; five daughters, Agnes Altmeyer and husband, Emil, of Evansville, Ind., Mary Bernadine Fortman, of Glennonville, Virginia Pentecost and husband, Greg, of St. Louis, Mo., Cecilia Fortman, of St. Louis and Susan Allen, of Dexter; one brother, George Gass, of Murphysboro, Ill; three sisters, Lydia Reed, of O'Fallon, Mo., Mildred Blume, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Irene Brown, of St. Louis; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 8, at the St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Glennonville with Father Dan Hirtz officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Teresa's Cemetery at Glennonville.
