Cad James, 96, of McAlester, Okla., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Born Nov. 1, 1909, in Kennett, son of the late Thomas Henderson and Katherine Johnson James, he attended school in Kennett and worked as an ammunition inspector and a member of the Oklahoma Church of Christ.
On Feb. 27, 1930, in Kennett, he married Imogene Rudder, who survives.
Survivors also include his children, Don James and wife, Maxine, of McAlester, Carolyn Moore and husband, Charles, of Frisco, Texas, Connie J. Wells, of Marion, Kan., Beth Hawkins and husband, Ken, of Delton, Fla., Irene Phares and husband, Kelly, of Norco, Calif., and Randy James and wife, Sue, of Ft. Worth, Texas; four sisters, Irene Dawson and Alberta Ford, both of Kennett, Helen Ament, of Big Springs, Texas and Mary Lee Harkless, of Indiana; two brothers, Tommy James, of Florida and Charles James, of Michigan; grandchildren, Rebekah Briggin, James David and Ronald Scott Moore, Tracy Forseberg, Dori Corbin, Jon James, Charles Wesley Moore, II, Contessa Ann Moore, Rob and Matthew Powell, D'Lonna Barrette, Heather Merryman, Holly Fox, Wyndi Gaskin and Joy Yoshizawa; 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Paul and Burley James and two sisters, Verda Osborne and Maude Evans.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today, Tuesday, May 30, at the Bishop Chapel of memories in McAlester with Red Coleman and Steve Lay officiating.
Burial was in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were elders of the Main and Oklahoma Church of Christ.
